In June, the BCLF signed the “Framework Agreement for Zero-Emission Urban Logistics” with the Flemish Government. This agreement allows cities to establish zero-emission zones starting in 2027, ensuring consistency across Flanders.
BCLF’s participation was crucial to include cycle logistics in the framework. Notably, recalling that up to one-third of urban transport trips could be made by cargo bikes.
The agreement includes measures to support cycle logistics, such as subsidies for cargo bikes, permission for bike trailers on bike paths, and guidelines for promoting cycle logistics in cities. Additionally, it supports the development of local hubs.
Cycle logistics is a vital part of achieving zero-emission urban transport. Philippe Lovens represented BCLF at the signing event. We also extend our gratitude to the BCLF team for their dedication over the past months.
