Our Journey

Explore the key milestones that have shaped the BCLF and its mission to revolutionize urban logistics.

2017

The Seeds of change

In 2017, the Belgian Cycle Logistics Federation (BCLF) was born out of a shared vision to revolutionize urban logistics by promoting the use of bikes and cargo bikes. During this year, Belgian cycle logistics sector employed around 34 full-time equivalents, transported 720 tons of goods, and covered 360,000 kilometers. The BCLF drew strength from its founding members—Dioxyde de Gambettes, Cargo Velo, Coursier Wallon, Molenbike, Rayon9, and ViaVelo—who aimed at enhancing cycle logistics services, increasing visibility, and providing a unified voice for the sector.

Across Europe, similar initiatives were emerging, proving that bikes and cargo bikes were not just viable but superior solutions for transporting goods and people within cities. As a leading cycling nation and home to the European headquarters, Belgium naturally became the hub for the BCLF, the Belgian branch of the European Cycle Logistics Federation.
