Supercharging the Future: What could the future of Cycle Logistics look like ? France provides a glimpse.
The 4th National Congress of Les Boîtes à Vélo – France, held on July 2–3, 2026, at Le Point Fort in Aubervilliers (Greater Paris), brought together over 500 professionals, policymakers, transport operators, and manufacturers to showcase how cargo bikes serve as ultimate “accelerators of transition.” For the BCLF, the two-day event offered a powerful glimpse into what the future of Belgian cycle logistics could look like if supercharged. The massive exhibition village, high-energy cargo bike obstacle race, a festive cycling parade, and even a live DJ set on a cargo bike proved that professional utility cycling can be immensely impactful while maintaining a vibrant, community-driven spirit.
Beyond the celebrations, the congress provided critical strategic insights for BCLF’s mission in Belgium. The primary takeaway was the sheer scale and institutional backing of the French ecosystem, highlighting how deeply integrated heavy-duty cargo bikes and micro-hubs have become in urban trades, plumbing, medical services, and cultural sectors. A major highlight for our delegation was the European Roundtable on Friday afternoon, moderated by BCLF’s own Philippe Van de Casteele.
Witnessing France’s scaled-up operational models and driving the conversation at a European legislative level has given BCLF a clear, ambitious blueprint to supercharge our own advocacy and growth across Belgium as we head into 2027.
