The BCLF at Solar Impulse’s Pioneers Forum

22/10/2024

The recent gathering of the Solar Impulse Foundation in Brussels for the Pioneers Forum and the exhibition “Shaping the City of Tomorrow” brought together innovators, changemakers, and industry leaders to explore real-world solutions for a more sustainable future. Key areas highlighted at the event included Energy & Electric Grid, Water & Urban Infrastructure, Construction & Buildings, Sustainable Housing, Waste Management, and, importantly for urban environments, Mobility & Logistics.

Through its World Alliance for Efficient Solutions, Solar Impulse promotes projects that balance profitability and sustainability. The focus of the “Shaping the City of Tomorrow” exhibition was to showcase tangible solutions that are ready to be deployed today to create smarter cities, better infrastructure, and greener economies.

At the heart of the exhibition, cycle logistics emerged as a key component of mobility and logistics solutions. Cargo bikes and cycle-based delivery services are already revolutionising urban transport by providing efficient, eco-friendly alternatives to traditional methods.

As cities continue to grow, the demand for efficient, low-impact logistics will only increase. By being a member of the Solar Impulse World Alliance, the BCLF ensures that cycle logistics remain central to the conversation about sustainable cities. Moreover, the collaboration between the BCLF and the Solar Impulse Foundation highlights how innovation and partnership can drive economic growth while preserving the planet.
