On Wednesday, October 11, 2023, the Belgian Cycle Logistics Federation (BCLF) proudly launched the “Route 33” initiative, a pivotal event aimed at reshaping the future of urban deliveries. Our goal with this initiative is to replace 33% of professional deliveries in urban areas with bicycle couriers. This mission is especially critical given a concerning statistic we’ve uncovered: currently, less than 1% of urban deliveries are carried out by bike.
“Route 33” is more than just a target; it’s a necessary step towards a more sustainable and efficient urban logistics system. By significantly increasing the use of bicycles for professional deliveries, we’re not only reducing emissions but also making our cities greener and more livable.
This initiative reflects our commitment to promoting cycle logistics and supporting the businesses and couriers already leading the way in this field. We believe that putting bicycles at the heart of urban logistics is crucial to achieving the ambitious goals of “Route 33.” Through this event, we are setting a new standard for urban delivery, one that prioritizes sustainability and efficiency for a better future.
